Our Campuses

Where We Play

FishHawk Premier FC operates across three dedicated facilities serving the FishHawk, Lithia, and Valrico communities. From our home grounds at the FishHawk Sports Complex to additional training and match venues at Randall Middle School and NXTGEN, our campuses are positioned to make youth soccer accessible to families throughout southeast Hillsborough County.

Lightning Detection System

Thor Guard Advanced Warning System

Thanks to the FishHawk Youth Sports Association, the FishHawk Sports Complex uses the Thor Guard Lightning System, an Advanced Warning System, to monitor and detect lightning throughout the entire complex. All players and parents are expected to understand how the Thor Guard system works and follow the rules and regulations the system has put forth.

Download Thor Guard

Available for desktop or mobile.

The Thor Guard system is installed atop our maintenance shed between the main soccer fields and the baseball fields. It detects lightning within a few miles of the complex and alerts everyone in the park when conditions become hazardous and lightning is detected within a 2-mile radius. When lightning is detected, a 15-second warning horn will sound and the strobe lights atop the maintenance building will flash. When it is safe to return to the fields, a 3–5 second horn will sound and the strobe light will turn off.

Green — All Clear
No threat detected. Normal play conditions.
Yellow — Caution
No immediate threat, but the situation should be monitored. Per county guidelines, fields are cleared at the Yellow stage.
Red — Immediate Danger
A loud horn will sound to alert everyone of immediate danger. All players and visitors must take shelter in their vehicles. Do not wait under trees, picnic canopies, or concession overhangs. Board rooms will be closed.

During Red Alerts, all players are asked to remain in their parent's vehicle until further notice, and parents should be present with their vehicles in the Sports Complex to provide a safe place for their child to wait during weather delays. Waiting under the picnic overhang or outside does not reduce the risk of a lightning strike — the safest possible place during a Red Alert is inside a vehicle.

Players should wait in their vehicles until one of two notifications is received: the sounding of the Thor Guard siren indicating it is safe to be outside (the strobe will also turn off), or a text message from the team manager communicating the cancellation of practice.

Thor Guard Data Reference Guide

A Thor Guard Lightning Prediction System looks at the electrostatic charge of the atmosphere to determine when conditions are favorable for lightning. As the charge in the atmosphere increases, the system raises its alert level accordingly. The display shows several key indicators — here is what each one means:

All Clear
No threat.
Caution
No immediate threat, but situation should be monitored if storms are developing or rain is in the area. Caution is normal during rain showers.
Warning
Thunderstorms or high winds are in the area. Lightning may be active or a storm may be developing nearby or overhead. The unit should be closely monitored.
Red Alert
The potential for lightning is high. All activities should stop.
LHL
Lightning Hazard Level
Scale of 1–9. A 1 indicates a 10% chance of lightning; a 9 indicates a 90% chance within sensor range (typically 12–15 miles). An LHL above 4 means lightning is occurring or has the potential to occur in your area.
DI
Dynamic Index
Scale of 1.0–9.9. A 1 means a 10% chance and 9.9 means a 99% chance of lightning within close proximity of the sensor. A DI greater than zero means lightning is in the area.
AD
Alarm Level
Any time the system goes to Red Alert, the AD starts at 10 — meaning at least 10 minutes until an All Clear could be issued. The AD resets to 10 until all static charge is out of the area, then counts down when no new energy surges are detected.
FCC
Field Collapse Count
An estimate of how many lightning strikes have occurred within the sensor range. Watching the FCC as the system progresses through Caution, Warning, and Red Alert helps gauge how active a storm is.

Typical readings during a developing or approaching storm: LHL = 6–9, DI = 1.6–4.0 (a DI of 3 will trigger Red Alert), AD = 10, FCC = 10–50.
